Public colleges and universities

The Title II web rule.

Public institutions must meet WCAG 2.1 AA for their web content and apps, including most documents and vendor content, with limited exceptions such as archived material.

A public university’s date is set by its state’s population, so for most it is the first date below. Private colleges answer to the ADA and, if they receive federal funding such as student aid, to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.

Can you run a network of departmental sites?

Yes. One team for the whole network: shared templates, named owners, and one standard. Departments keep publishing their own content.

Do you support campus single sign-on?

Yes. Editors sign in through your identity provider, such as Shibboleth or Microsoft Entra ID, scoped in your contract.

Will you complete our security questionnaire?

Yes. Our answers to the HECVAT’s critical questions are published at lfw.com/trust/security-questionnaire, and we fill in your institution’s own form from them. The hosting provider’s reports, such as SOC 2, cover the servers.

Some departments have their own vendors. Can you work alongside them?

Yes. Before work starts, we put in writing who owns which sites and which tasks.

Do you work in Drupal?

Yes. We take on Drupal work, and Leland’s own record is on WordPress. Moving a network off a proprietary platform is a rebuild, at a fixed price.

What does it cost?

The monthly fee depends on the number of sites and pages, the integrations, and how many requests a month you expect, and is quoted in writing. Support runs Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern; the host covers nights. Rebuilds and assessments are one-time fixed prices.
