These terms govern your use of lfw.com and the tools on it — the website scan, the reports we share, and the client portal. By using any of it, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Services.
The Services are operated by Wevia LLC, a Virginia limited liability company (“LFW,” “we,” “us”). If you’re a retainer client, the separate services agreement we sign with you governs that work; where it conflicts with these terms, that agreement controls.
The website scan and reports
Our scan reviews a website using information that is already publicly available — the same things a normal visitor or standard tool can see. It makes ordinary, non-intrusive requests and does not attempt to access private systems, accounts, or data.
You agree to use the scan only on domains you own or are authorized to assess. Don’t use it to probe, overload, disrupt, or attack anyone’s systems, or for any unlawful purpose.
If you received a report from us at a private link, that report is for you and the colleagues you choose to share it with. It reflects a point-in-time look and may become out of date.
Disclaimer
The scan, the reports, and everything else on the site are provided “as is,” for general information only. We work to make them useful and accurate, but we make no warranty — express or implied — that they are complete, accurate, current, or fit for a particular purpose, and we disclaim the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness, and non-infringement to the fullest extent the law allows.
A scan result is not a guarantee that a site is secure, accessible, compliant, or free of problems, and a clean result is not a promise that nothing is wrong. Nothing on the site is legal, security, accessibility, or other professional advice, and it doesn’t create a professional relationship. You’re responsible for the decisions you make, and you should get qualified advice before acting on anything here.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Services to break the law or infringe anyone’s rights;
- scan, test, or probe systems you don’t own or aren’t authorized to assess;
- interfere with, overload, or disrupt the Services, or bypass our security or rate limits;
- scrape or harvest the Services in bulk, or use automated means beyond ordinary use;
- reverse engineer or copy the Services except where the law permits; or
- misrepresent who you are or your authority to act.
Accounts
The client portal signs you in with a one-time link sent to your email instead of a password. Keep your email account secure and don’t share your sign-in links — anyone with them can access your portal. Tell us promptly if you think your account has been misused.
Our content
The site, its text, design, and the LFW name and marks are owned by LFW and protected by law. We give you a limited, personal, non-exclusive right to use the Services as intended. A report we prepare for you is yours to use for your own organization; please don’t republish it as if it were your own work or strip our attribution.
Third-party links
The Services may link to sites and tools we don’t control. We’re not responsible for them, and these terms don’t apply to them.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, LFW and its owner won’t be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Services — even if we’ve been warned they’re possible. Our total liability for any claim relating to the free Services is limited to one hundred U.S. dollars ($100). Some places don’t allow these limits, so parts of this may not apply to you.
Indemnification
You agree to cover LFW for claims, losses, and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Services or your breach of these terms — for example, scanning a system you weren’t authorized to assess.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that the state and federal courts located in Virginia are the proper venue for any dispute, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
Changes
We may update these terms as the Services change. When we do, we’ll revise the “last updated” date above. Continuing to use the Services after a change means you accept the updated terms.
