About LFW

We like this work. It shows.

LFW exists because so many organizations with mission-critical websites are stuck with vendors who treat the work as a queue. We treat it as a craft — we're invested in your success, we build our own tools, and we run this site as our own first case study. Here's what we believe, written down so you can hold us to it.

01

There is no lift too heavy.

The agency default is "no" — no is safe, no protects the retainer, no ends the conversation. Ours is "let's figure it out." Something we haven't built before isn't a reason to decline; it's the job. And on the occasions when no really is the right answer, you'll get it with the reason and an alternative — never as a reflex.

02

An answer, not an acknowledgment.

"We got your message" is not a response. We work East Coast business hours and pride ourselves on fast turnarounds to actual solutions — and our tracking systems exist so nothing falls through the cracks and you never have to chase us. Following up on your own vendor is a job you shouldn't have.

03

We move at Washington speed.

In policy work, the hearing is Thursday and the statement goes out at nine. We understand deadlines that don't move, and we've built for them: fast turnaround without compromising quality isn't heroics here, it's what the monitoring, the systems, and the daily discipline are for.

04

Proactive, not reactive.

Your site is checked every day — accessibility, performance, links, email deliverability — and we come to you with improvements you didn't ask for. You should hear about a problem from us, before a member, a donor, or a reporter finds it first.

05

Your data is yours.

Guest lists, analytics, archives, records — they live in open formats you can take with you, any day, not just on the way out. We don't charge rent on your own information, and we'd rather be irreplaceable for what we do next than for what we've locked up.

06

You'll never feel talked down to.

Teaching is part of the work — it's why we write the blog, and why our scanner explains what it finds in plain English instead of a wall of jargon. Ask us anything about your site, however basic it might feel, and you'll get a calm, clear answer and the reason behind it. Not knowing the technical side isn't a gap to be embarrassed about — it's the entire reason to hire someone who spends their days there.

07

Candor over comfort.

We'll tell you when we think a request will hurt your site, when you don't need the thing you're asking to buy, and when we're not the right fit. Disagreement is part of the service; it's delivered with respect and it's never personal. You're paying for judgment — you should get the real one.
