Public-facing systems. As WordPress Administrator for Arlington County Government, Leland managed more than 40 public websites. At Stand Together, he worked on the in-house team responsible for over 100 WordPress sites.
The WordPress ecosystem. His work includes themes sold through established marketplaces, technical support at LearnDash, and managing the marketing and ecommerce websites for LearnDash, GiveWP, The Events Calendar, and SolidWP at Liquid Web.
That is Leland’s prior work, not LFW client engagements. LFW was founded in 2026.
The WordPress community. He was one of eight organizers of WordCamp DC 2017, the WordPress conference in Washington.
Custom applications with Laravel. Leland has also built personal Laravel applications with structured content editors, account permissions, booking workflows, API integrations, and queued reporting. These are independent projects, not LFW client engagements.
At LFW, that experience informs the practical decisions: what to fix first, how to prepare a safe update, and how to make a publishing process easier for the people who use it. Leland scopes the work and remains your point of contact.
Software we use ourselves. LFW.com runs our own website auditor, booking system, analytics, and client portal. These are working applications built for LFW, not client commissions. The colophon explains what each one does and links to public examples.

- 2007–2013 Founded Theme Lab: WordPress, HTML, and CSS work for clients around the world, alongside a blog of tutorials and standards commentary. Acquired by AwesomeMotive.
- 2013–2016 Agency development in Washington: custom WordPress builds at The Jake Group, then sites and rapid-turn landing pages for candidates, PACs, and political organizations at Targeted Victory.
- 2016–2017 Ran Themetry, a small products company: commercial themes distributed through StudioPress and WordPress.com, and a course teaching Advanced Custom Fields.
- 2017 WordPress Administrator for Arlington County Government: the whole network of 40-plus public-facing sites on AWS, including the update and security-patch cycle.
- 2017–2019 Web developer at Berman and Company, building and maintaining a portfolio of sites on Timber, Sass, and Composer.
- 2019–2021 Technical support at LearnDash, the WordPress course platform, while keeping Themetry’s theme catalog running on the side. Support is where you learn how software actually fails for real users.
- 2021–2023 Senior WordPress developer at Liquid Web, managing the marketing and ecommerce websites for LearnDash, GiveWP, The Events Calendar, and SolidWP (formerly iThemes).
- 2023–2026 Senior web developer at Stand Together, on the in-house team responsible for a portfolio of over a hundred WordPress sites: custom functionality, bug triage, and the internal customers behind each request.
- 2026– Founded LFW: web operations for organizations that answer to someone (agencies, advocacy organizations, policy institutes, associations, chambers of commerce, embassies, and government bodies).

Leland was born in Washington and has lived in the District, Maryland, and Virginia his whole life. Arlington is home today.
